Mitsubishi to unveil three concept cars

Mitsubishi Motors will unveil three world-premiere concept vehicles at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013 next month.

Incorporating a new design identity, the three models highlight next-generation Mitsubishi advanced technology that embodies the concepts of environmental responsibility, driving pleasure, toughness and safety, said the firm.

The first of the three concepts, the Concept GC-PHEV (grand cruiser), is a full-sized SUV (sport utility vehicle) that uses a high- output PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) system.

It has Mitsubishi's S-AWC (super all-wheel control) integrated vehicle dynamic control system that delivers superior handling, stability as well as the all-terrain capability an SUV offers.

The Concept GC-PHEV is also a "connected car" that offers preventive-safety technology and driver-support technology through wireless connectivity.

Meanwhile, the Concept XR-PHEV cross-over runner is a compact SUV loaded with a lightweight PHEV system that offers nimble drivability and a body style resembling a sport coupe's.

As for the Concept AR (active runabout), it is a compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) that offers both the mobility of an SUV and the roominess of an MPV.
