Paper vendor doing his rounds killed in freak accident

IPOH - A rope meant to tie a bundle of newspapers at the back of a motorcycle got entangled with the chain sprocket, causing the 64-year-old rider to lose control and fall.

Newspaper vendor C. Selvarajoo suffered head injuries from the fall and died on the spot in the 7am incident in Jalan Persiaran Lapangan Siber 4 in Taman Botani here yesterday.

His body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

A police spokesman said Selvarajoo was doing his normal routine to deliver newspapers when the freak accident occurred.

"He was unable to control the motorcycle when part of the rope snapped and got entangled in the sprocket.

"This caused the motorcycle to stall and fall, killing the victim," the spokesman said.
