S'porean driver stunned by toppling lamp post while driving in Malaysia

SINGAPORE - A reader sent in a picture showing a lamp post that looked dangerously about to topple onto the road on the way to Johor Bahru.

A contributor to citizen journalism website Stomp said he spotted the lamp post while travelling to Johor to purchase food for Hari Raya.

The contributor who gave his name as Izfau said that the lamp post was almost uprooted from the ground and falling towards the road

"Yesterday afternoon, I was in a car together with my wife and parents to buy Hari Raya kuih at Rengit, Batu Pahat Johor. After we were done with our shopping, we were making our way to JB city to buy some JCO donuts," he said.

"While on the road, we were shocked to see the same lamp post we noticed earlier when we were coming that is in a slanted position even after almost two hours later.

"It is almost uprooted from the ground and falling towards the road.

"What surprised me is that the affected lamp post has nothing around it to be supported from falling further nor there was any sign or barrier to warn motorists or condone off the area.

"The local motorists were just driving freely on both directions without trying to avoid the area.

"While something can be done to save someone's life from involving in an accident, but the people here can choose to continue with their lives like as though there is no danger."
