Uprooted tree smashes into van at Marina Barrage

Strong winds that came in the wee hours of Sunday morning (Oct 6) brought a wave of destruction, uprooting a tree that crashed onto a parked van, while another fell on the road and nearly hit a moving car.

A Stomp contributor Dre was in a car at the Marina Barrage carpark when he saw an uprooted tree smash down on a parked van.

In his report, he wrote: "My cousin and I were driving through the carpark at Marina Barrage when we decided to check the GPS for directions.

"As we wind down our windows after parking in the lot, strong winds came and shook our car.

"Little did we know that we were in a danger zone for seconds later, a tree was uprooted and slammed down onto a parked van.

"There was a loud sound as the tree was huge.

"Fortunately, we are safe. Thank God - it could have been us!"

Meanwhile, STOMPer Alex was also another motorist who had a close shave with danger after his car was nearly hit by a fallen tree while driving along Admiralty Road West in the wee hours of Sunday morning (Oct 6).

In his report, Alex wrote:

"Fallen tree at around 4.25am on Admiralty Road West.

"The tree nearly collapsed on my vehicle."
