Vehicles overturn in separate accidents on AYE and Pasir Ris

SINGAPORE - Two accidents occurred at different places this morning: A passenger was trapped in an overturned vehicle after an accident on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), while a black car overturned outside Pasir Ris MRT Station.

According to a report in The Straits Times, a section of the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) just before Tuas West is closed due to a serious accident involving a tipper truck and lorry.

As at 10.45am on Wednesday, a taxi passenger remained trapped in an overturned vehicle. A Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said the male taxi driver, who was also trapped initially, has already been taken to the National University Hospital.

The accident occurred at about 9.36am along the AYE towards Tuas close to the Tuas West Exit, but how the accident occurred has not been established.

Stomp contributor Bary John sent in a picture of the accident and wrote that there was a "major accident on AYE before Tuas."

Another Stomp contributor, Yong Hong, shared pictures of the accident at Pasir Ris, and believes the driver was going at a high speed for his vehicle to flip over.

He wrote: "A car overturned at a most unlikely place - Pasir Ris Central Street 3 (roundabout at Pasir Ris MRT Station).

"It shows that this car was traveling a very high speed to overturn in such a way.

"I took this picture at around 8am this morning when traffic officers were already at the scene, but passers-by said the accident happened at around 7am."
