Here is the full statement from Burger King Singapore:

As a "thank you" to Singapore's National Servicemen, Burger King Singapore held a special Whopper burger giveaway at its White Sands (Pasir Ris) restaurant this afternoon. The first 1,000 to arrive received free Whopper burgers, and the rest were able to get their burgers at half the usual price. Within the first half-an-hour, more than 150 freshly made Whopper burgers were snapped up.

Mr Wong Shyang Jiuu, General Manager, Burger King Singapore, was also on-site to help serve these Whopper burgers to the men in green. He said, "We are encouraged by the turnout of our first giveaway activity and will consider organising more such activities to reach out to the different groups of people in Singapore in the future."

"We know that our soldiers, especially the recruits, work and train extremely hard, and as such they deserve a fulfilling meal that they truly love. The Whopper is our largest and most iconic burger, and we want to show our appreciation by giving them the opportunity to have a satisfying meal, on us."
