These chocolates are filled with peppermint cream and have a very intense flavour. There is an explanation for it.
The British company has revived an old variety of peppermint known as Black Mitcham, harking back to when England was famous for its mint. In today's parlance, it would be called heirloom mint. Apart from growing the herb, the company also distills the leaves into peppermint oil, which it used in the cream filling.
The cool feeling in the belly lasts a long time. Zingy and comforting are strange bedfellows, but there they are working in harmony with dark chocolate squares.
