Crown Bakery & Cafe

For years, Far East Flora beautified homes with its range of plants and flowers. Now, they've cast their eyes on your stomach as well.

Their soon-to-open Crown Bakery and Cafe is a collaboration with famed Japanese bakery Signifiant Signifie, which has outlets in Setagaya, and Nihonbashi Takashimaya. Their breads are also supplied to star restaurants across Japan.

The bakery believes that bread can be healthier, made without the use of artificial food flavouring, colouring, preservatives, harmful additives and chemical improvers. It uses French mill wheat flour, Hokkaido Kitanokaori flour, German sourdough and French butter to make its breads.

On the menu are 45 offerings, including Hainanese Chicken Bread (S$4.50, above), which is made from chicken soup, skinless chicken thigh, garlic, ginger, and shallots.

Check out its Red Wine Fig Sourdough (S$8.50), made with figs simmered in French red wine, cinnamon, and bay leaves. Other exotic bites include Seedless Chilli Baguette (S$4.50), made from Japanese dried seedless chilli, and Shiitake Shimeiji Mushroom Truffle Bread (S$14). The cafe will serve hot food at a later date.
