Food picks: Dark indulgence

How often have you had a slice of chocolate cake and been disappointed? It's too sweet. The chocolate flavour is elusive.

Well, when I have a forkful of this chocolate cake, I cannot believe my luck. Prive Grill and Prive Cafe's Very Dark Chocolate Cake ($14++) has a swoon-worthy, very deep chocolate flavour. It is not at all sweet. In short, it is the chocolate cake of my dreams.

Now maybe that sort of intensity is not for everybody, so the cake comes with port-soaked prunes, cherries and macadamia nut crumble. Mix and match as you like. But come on, go

over to the very dark side.
