Food picks: Juicy roast meats

Food picks: Juicy roast meats

After two unsatisfying meals at Kay Lee for an assignment on the sale of the roast meat stall in Paya Lebar, I decided to go on a hunt for good char siew in Singapore.

And I found it at Kim Heng, a stall in a coffee shop opposite the Serangoon Stadium.

The char siew, which has equal layers of fat and meat, is moist with meat juices and just tender enough without being soft. The roast duck is juicy and tender too.

I was served the end portion of the roast pork, however, which was expectedly too salty, and there was not much crackling. Still, what crackling I got was very crisp, so I guess the centre cut would be much better.

A platter of the three meats with rice, enough for one person, costs $10.
