Girl sent to hospital after two chandeliers fall off restaurant's ceiling

SINGAPORE - A girl was sent to hospital for treatment after she was injured by two chandeliers which fell off the ceiling of a Scotts Road restaurant.

The incident, which happened on Friday, was reported by citizen journalism website Stomp.

A contributor to the news portal said that she was enjoying a high tea buffet at Carousel when two large chandeliers fell onto the floor from the ceiling, one after the other, within 10 seconds.

The contributor, who gave her name as Lindy, said that the restaurant management subsequently took down the remaining four chandeliers for safety reasons.

"It was very fortunate that no one was seriously hurt though a little girl was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment," she said.

She also praised the staff present, saying that they reacted in a very professional manner.

"The Carousel personnel also maintained their cool and professionalism throughout the whole incident, kudos to them," she added.

Stomp understands that the restaurant is investigating the cause of the incident.
