LOLLAPALOOZA

Lollapalooza, sister to small-plates restaurant Lolla, opened last Monday. The 70-seat eatery has a menu which changes daily. On the menu now are braised tuna eye with salsa verde ($48) and black figs stuffed with merguez, a spicy sausage, and wrapped in bacon ($15).

+39 GELATO BAR

This 40-seat parlour serves gelato which is freshly made daily. There are eight flavours - four of which, such as dark chocolate, are permanent.

The other four, such as Frozen Aperol Spritz, an alcoholic sorbet topped with crispy prosecco wine and a twist of orange, change according to the chef's creativity or by popular demand.

If you have the gelato in-house, it is served in chilled metal cups. Prices begin at $7.50++ for a small cup, which includes a topping and garnish.

You can pair it with a glass of spirit such as Baileys ($9++). Take-away servings come in cups of small to large sizes and prices start from $5.50.

BAR BAR BLACK SHEEP

Bar Bar Black Sheep has opened its fifth outlet at Holland Village.

Have salmon ($9.90) and scallops ($9.90), both of which are grilled medium rare with sea salt. Other offerings include curry katsu don ($11.90) and tempura tiger prawn soba ($13.90).

Besides cocktails and craft beers, this branch also offers Japanese sake and single-malt whisky.

BOUFE

Enjoy pastries and buy clothes from fashion label Ohvola at Boufe, which stands for Boutique Cafe.

It seats 40 indoors and 25 outdoors and its offerings include Triple B, which is croissant, scrambled eggs, streaky bacon, sausages, sauteed mushrooms and greens ($21); iced chamomile mint tea ($5.50); and Opera cake ($7).

DSTLLRY

Music producer, composer and photographer Andrew Lum, 49, has set up a space in Portsdown Road that serves omakase meals and cocktails. It aims to feature photo exhibitions from next month and music showcases from May.

The bar seats 60 and offers omakase meals at $95 a person. Dishes include onsen tamago with yuzu ponzu, a citrus-based sauce, topped with shaved monkfish liver and salmon roe. Cocktails with an Asian twist are offered at $25 nett.

Open: Noon to 3pm for lunch and 6pm to midnight for the cocktail bar from Monday to Saturday. There are two omakase seatings at 6.30 and 8.30pm nightly, which takes 12 each
