The Peak's Gourmet & Travel magazine recognises top restaurants at G Restaurant Awards

SINGAPORE - At its annual and highly anticipated G Restaurant Awards 2015 event, The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, a publication of The Peak by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines), gave accolades to top restaurants in Singapore. The event was held at the Fullerton Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Into its sixth year, the annual awards recognises top restaurants that deliver superb dining experiences. The results from the G restaurant awards provide an authoritative and carefully curated list of the very best in Singapore's ever changing dining scene following incognito tastings annually by writers of Gourmet & Travel as well as an external food panel comprising ambassadors and head honchos.

The first stage of selection was done by veteran food critics such as The Straits Times' Wong Ah Yoke, The Business Times' Jaime Ee and Lianhe Zaobao's Dr Ng King Kang, who identified a shortlist of restaurants for incognito tastings. The restaurants were then scored on factors such as food, service and the overall dining experience.

The G Restaurant Awards is organised by The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, a quarterly spin off of The Peak magazine, and is a stylish and authoritative guide for high net worth individuals with discerning palates. Offering a global outlook with insider and expert knowledge, it provides dining and travel information, insights and recommendations, reaching a high-powered audience comprising The Peak's subscribers and an exclusive database of affluent female readers.

A total of 43 honours were handed out at the Awards event held yesterday. Restaurant Andre emerged as Restaurant of the Year for the third year, for consistently delivering excellent food and providing the best service. Other key categories included the Best Dinner Experience won by Jaan (Western) and Hashida Sushi (Asian), as well as Best New Restaurant awarded to Corner House (Western) and Syun (Asian).

This year, more casual dining restaurants made a strong showing on the list, like Les Amis Group's boisterous tapas joint La Taperia, Sofitel So's lobby restaurant Xperience Restaurant & Bar, experimental "Asian-Fusion" restaurant Labyrinth and Japanese restaurant Shinzo. There are also eight new restaurants appearing in G Restaurant Awards' hall of fame for the first time.

During the event, a refreshed new look for Gourmet & Travel magazine was also unveiled. The magazine retained signature key sections, breathing new life to its coverage, and new regular columns were added, such as entertaining at home. Content has also been injected with more insider tips, expert recommendations and practical advice. Complementing this is an uplifting new look and feel.

Mr Sylvester Ng, Editor of The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, said: "The change is part of our on-going effort to continually refine and improve on content and design to stay ahead of the curve and be the foremost informative and authoritative guide for those who appreciate and enjoy a truly gourmet experience."

Gourmet & Travel has won numerous awards since its inception six years ago. It was most recently named Food Media of the Year for the second year running at the Magazine Publishers Association of Singapore (MPAS) Awards 2015.

Ms Joanna Lee-Miller, Group Editor of SPH Magazines, said: "Continuing to engage readers is key, and apart from ensuring content and design are continually refreshed, Gourmet & Travel has also launched a regular series of gastronomic events for readers. These experiential events also enable advertisers and partners to have an effective means to engage directly with our readers. So in addition to our current multi-platform offerings on print, online and digital, offline via these events, Gourmet & Travel provides a complete and holistic experience."

It is available at leading Singapore bookstores including Kinokuniya, Times, MPH and Times Newslink. Catering to readers with different reading habits, The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel is also available on both iPad and Android devices. The digital edition of the magazine can be conveniently downloaded via platforms such as the Apple Newsstand and Magzter, where readers can access a replica copy of the print magazine on their tablet devices.
