Whoever thought up the idea of adding chilli to chocolate is possibly a genius.
A touch of heat in a cup of thick hot chocolate gives added warmth on cold days and the spice really does enhance chocolate, especially the dark variety.
So when I clapped eyes on Caffe Dolcetti's Chocolate & Chilli biscuits, I had to buy a box.
There is no full-on assault from the chilli. Rather, it is a persistent, and pleasurable, tingle on the tongue. It is magic, really, that heat floating on the palate.
Of course, none of that would mean anything if the biscuits themselves are not good.
These are crisp and buttery, and perfect with a cup of coffee.
