You know the little snacks they hand out on planes? Peanuts and rice crackers tend to be in the bags and I have never found either satisfying. The nuts are too plain and I always finish the rice crackers too quickly.
Perhaps on my next trip, I'll pack some snacks in my carry-on luggage and nosh like a champion while everyone else contemplates his little bags of nuts.
These snacks tick all the right boxes. They are a mix of nuts and crackers so things never get boring, the seasonings are peppy and they are dangerously moreish. There is no worry about running out or having to ask for more either. These bags pack enough to last a longish flight.
Of the two, it is the Chilli Lime Peanuts & Cashews ($6.95 for a 125g bag, far left) that will make it on the plane because the nuts have a tangy flavour that I like. I also love the crunchy corn sticks tossed into the mix as they add texture.
A little more elaborate, and marginally more spicy, is the Hot & Spicy Moroccan Mix ($7.95 for a 112g bag, left).
There are peanuts coated with a crisp, spicy batter, chilli lemon cashews and balls of rice crackers. The peanut coating shatters beautifully and those rice cracker balls are irresistible.
