After a 6-week island-wide hunt for value-for-money hawkers, the Retail Price Watch Group (RPWG) releases the results through the 'Really Worth It!' Hawker List today.

Collated on an online List, consumers can search through the compilation of valuefor-money hawkers for Fishball Noodles, Chicken Rice, Mee Rebus and Nasi Briyani to review the hawkers voted by the public. To help the public spot these hawkers on the ground, each nominated stall will also be presented with a 'Really Worth It!' decal to display on their stall.

Tian Tian Chicken Rice tops the List as the overall most value-for-money stall, followed by Singapore Zam Zam Restaurant's Chicken Briyani, Mee Rebus from Rahim Muslim Food, and Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodles. Each is also the most voted stall in their food category.

The List also uncovers a noteworthy insight - taste, not price, is the key deciding factor when identifying value-for-money hawkers. Of the 60 stalls nominated, the top three lowest price hawkers are not within the upper ranks. In contrary, except for Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodles, the overall most value-for-money hawkers charge middle to high prices in their own category.

Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Chairman of RPWG noted, "It is a little surprising that Singaporeans assigned more weight to taste than price when making their evaluation. I hope this round of consumers' recommendations forms a good guide to those of us who seek value-for-money food in Singapore. By uncovering popular and good value hawker food around the island, we hope to help consumers stretch their dollar while satisfying their tastebuds. Simultaneously, the 'List' helps to single out hawkers who have worked hard to deliver good value to their customers."

Organised from 6 September to 18 October, the RPWG Hawker Hunt was conducted on the RPWG Facebook page and collected a total of 60 hawker nominations and 2151 votes.
