20 hotels in Singapore prepare to receive SEA Games athletes

SINGAPORE - Over 7,000 athletes and officials from 10 Southeast Asia countries will be hosted at 20 hotels in Singapore for the 28th SEA Games, according to the Singapore Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC).

These hotels include Resorts World Sentosa, Swissotel The Stamford, and Marina Mandarin.

According to a statement by SINGSOC, some of the football teams have already checked into their Games accommodation at Days Hotel Singapore at Zhongshan Park.

SINGSOC's Chief for Manpower and Games Engagement, Rostam Umar, who greeted them on Wednesday, said: "This 28th SEA Games, in line with the Games' 'Village in the City' concept, all athletes and officials will be housed in hotels located near the city centre and competition venues to reduce travel time and we hope they get to enjoy more of what Singapore has to offer.

"Housing the athletes by sport gives them the chance to build relationships and we hope they can remain friends even after the competitions.

"Besides lodge and board, athletes will also enjoy the hotel group's facilities such as the swimming pool, gym and business centre."

In a separate statement, the committee added that the menu of all the dishes that will be given to athletes during their stay in Singaporeat the Games Village has been finalised.

The meals are designed to maximise the athlete's potential during training and competition.

Over 120 recipes were developed for the Games and these dishes will be rotated daily at three meal times daily from May 24 to June 18.

According to SINGSOC, the menus will also have a "distinct Singaporean flavour incorporated while simultaneously catering to the cultural, religious and individual needs of athletes competing in the games."

The 28th SEA Games will be held from June 5 to 16, 2015.
