SINGAPORE - Singapore international Baihakki Khaizan was unveiled as Chelsea FC Football School Singapore (CFCSSSG) community ambassador yesterday.
Voted Best Defender at the Football Association of Malaysia annual awards, the 29-year-old will work with children from under-privileged backgrounds as part of CFCSSSG'S corporate social responsibility programme which kicks off next month.
It aims to provide after-school care to pupils in need, and will see both on and off the field sessions.
"Football has given me a wonderful career and life, and I hope I can do my bit to give something back and help these children," said Baihakki, whose first assignment will see him spend time with children at CFCSSSG's East Campus at Bedok South Secondary School next month.
StarCom Sports Management is the company that operates CFCSSSG, and its executive director Ryz Martein Yacob is hoping that more companies will join them in developing the programme.
