Bowling: Melyssa wins U-18 title

SINGAPORE - After finishing third in the Under-15 Girls' Masters finals last week, kegler Melyssa Madeleine Chua clinched the Under-18 Girls' Masters title yesterday at the Singapore International Open at the Orchid Country Club.

The Singaporean posted a 1,595 total to finish first, while the Philippines' Bea Hernandaz and Singapore's Syasya Ismail were second and third with 1,581 and 1,532 pinfalls respectively.

Fellow Singaporean Tan Gian Yion took home the boys' U-18 Masters title with 1,789, while Julian Yeo and Suhaizan Ashraf were second and third respectively with 1,735 and 1,706.

Foreign bowlers - such as Professional Bowling Association World Bowling Tour No. 1 Sean Rash, and No. 2 Mika Koivuniemi - will compete in the tournament, which ends on Saturday.
