C'wealth Games: President Tan cheers on Team Singapore

President Tony Tan Keng Yam inaugurated the informal naming of the "Singapore Square" at the Commonwealth Games Village yesterday.

He visited the Singapore house and also met with members of the Singapore contingent ceremony and wished them well for the competition ahead.

He said: "I am very happy to be here to attend the 20th Commonwealth Games to support Team Singapore.

"I had a tour of the premises and facilities. Everything looks very organised, facilities are first rate, the athletes look very comfortable and are settling down well. They are in very good spirits, raring to go for the competition.

"We look forward to some sterling performances from them and I am confident they will deliver a few medals."
