SINGAPORE - An ASEAN All-Stars outfit featuring three Singapore internationals went down 1-0 to an Indonesia XI in a charity match at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta last night.
Singapore skipper Shahril Ishak wore the armband for the All-Star team, and fellow Lions midfield star Hariss Harun and goalkeeper Hassan Sunny also made the starting 11.
The Warriors FC shot-stopper put in a sterling shift between the sticks, pulling off three stunning second-half saves to deny Ferdinand Sinaga, Zulham Zamrun and Indonesia's Holland-born star Bruno Maitimo.
He was blameless for the only strike of the game, an own goal by Malaysia captain Safiq Rahim in the 14th minute. The match was a fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which killed over 6,000 people in the Philippines last November.
