Get active, learn and have fun

SINGAPORE - A key part of the Vision 2030 sports master plan will be launched next month.

ActiveSG, previously known as Super Sports Clubs, will kick off in Jurong West on April 26, with further launches set for Sengkang, Yio Chu Kang, Bishan Pasir Ris and the Singapore Sports Hub.

The national movement will split Singapore into five zones - north, north-east, east, west and central.

Membership and booking

All Singaporeans and permanent residents will be ActiveSG members, but will have to activate their membership to enjoy perks such as discounts and exclusives.

Members need to show any existing form of identification - such as a driving licence - at the various facilities for entry.

They may also log on to a new mobile app to sign up for programmes and book facilities.

Makeover

Some existing facilities, like older swimming complexes, will be given a facelift to utilise their open spaces.

For example, outdoor gyms may be installed by pools, which may be surrounded by alfresco lounges for parties and social gatherings.

Free wi-fi and mobile charging stations will also be installed at some facilities.

The face-lifts will be separate from the refurbishment and redevelopment work under the Sports Facilities Master Plan.

New interests

In addition to traditional sports like football and basketball, ActiveSG will offer new activities like aqua spinning and fitness bootcamps to attract people who are not physically active now.

Singapore National Games

The National Games will be held in November this year and will be separate from the ongoing Community Games organised by the People's Association.

This year's edition will see participants competing in different divisions according to their abilities, with SSC-carded athletes competing only in the top division.

The organisers are also looking to introduce more sports this year.
