How would you like to get that fit body you have always been dreaming of?

Even better, how would you like to be rewarded with more than $6,000 worth of prizes for keeping fit?

The New Paper and fitness equipment company AIBI present the Get Lean, Get Strong Challenge 2016, a fitness competition that challenges participants to lose as much weight as they can.

Ten contestants will undergo an intensive six-month training period worth $5,000, under the supervision of weight-loss guru David Devito.

The 50-year-old will lead one-hour classes thrice a week at his gym, The Fitness Protocol in Geylang, using his techniques that have helped more than 300 people achieve their dream figures.

Mr Devito, who has been helping people lose weight for more than six years, says: "My techniques are unlike any other and I guarantee that they work."

Rather than focus on running or other cardiovascular exercises, his methods, which include the use of the kettlebell, have a strong emphasis on technique.

But the challenge will involve more than just the training sessions.

DIET

Mr Devito says he will monitor and make changes to the food intake of the contestants because much of the success hinges on one's diet.

"You can go for classes every day but it would be useless if you don't watch what you eat," he says.

According to AIBI managing director Pauline Kwek, 51, people still need to be reminded of the importance of exercise.

She says: "We hope to put across the message that exercising and eating right are the best ways to keep fit and achieve a dream body."

Winners of the contest will be decided based on how much weight they shed. The first weigh-in will be on April 1 and the last in September.

The participant who loses the most weight will receive an AIBI treadmill, exercise bike and stepper, together worth $6,100.

There are also prizes for those who come in second and third, as well as consolation prizes for the remaining seven.

Mr Devito says: "I want to help people who have been trying and trying but have not been able to get fit.

"It will be tough but I promise if the participants listen to me, I will deliver the results."
