Golf: Top local amateurs head to Durban

Five Singaporean amateur golfers will leave for South Africa tonight to represent the Republic at the World Golfers Championship in Durban from tomorrow to Nov 8.

Cody Lim (0-5.4 handicap), Sushminder Singh (5.5-10.4), Ko Yeo (10.5-15.4), Tan Horng Chiang (15.5-20.4) and David Seow (20.5-25.4) were crowned individual champions of their respective handicap divisions at the Singapore Press Holdings World Golfers Championship held at Sentosa's Serapong course earlier this month.

In South Africa, the five golfers will play two practice rounds and four tournament rounds.

They will compete for the team title as well as individual honours in their respective handicap divisions.

Singapore won the WGC team event in 2008.
