Halal Foods boost for LionsXII

SINGAPORE - They are the reigning champions of the 12-team Malaysian super league (Msl), but are fighting to stay out of the bottom two in the standings with just one game to go tonight, against T-Team in Terengganu.

The LionsXII need all the support they can get. The Singapore side face the prospect of dropping into the secondtier Malaysian Premier League, after recent comments by Football Association of Malaysia secretary general Hamidin Amin, who claimed they could re-look the issue of relegation immunity that was originally agreed on for the LionsXII.

While the team have been struggling on the pitch, they were boosted by a recent six-figure sponsorship deal with Halal Foods International, who have been named as the official health food partner of Lions-XII.

The sponsorship is until the end of the 2014 season, with an option for renewal for 2015.

Support

Halal Foods International director N Pandian said: "Now that the LionsXII are struggling in the league, it's a good time to throw our local support behind the team.

"Honestly, I can tell you that even if the team are relegated, it is likely that we will still support them."

Pandian added that the sponsorshipis the company's way of saying thank you to the community at large, and was part of their on-going Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) promise.

"Halal Foods International has been in business for the last 20 years and we are truly proud of the fact that our Singapore community has been faithfully supporting our business," said Pandian, a former national hockey player.

"We also hope to use this sponsorship as a platform for us to help the less privilege by inviting selected groups to come and watch the LionsXII in action at the various venues in Singapore."
