Hero's welcome for Japan's football captain

Makoto Hasebe, 30, who captained the national team at the World Cup finals in Brazil, visits Asahi Kindergarten in Minami-Sanriku, Miyagi Prefecture, on Monday. The school's original building, which was destroyed by tsunami following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, was rebuilt in the summer of 2012 using 117 million yen (S$1.44027 million) raised and donated by Hasebe, who has since maintained contact with the school's children.
