Home United's wretched run in the AFC Cup continued on Tuesday's night, after a 3-1 away defeat by India's Churchill Brothers in their Group E match.
The Protectors started Tuesday's game brightly, with Qiu Li putting them in front after just 10 minutes.
But Churchill Brothers, who are the defending I-League champions, drew level just six minutes later through Trinidadian forward Anthony Wolfe.
Things got worse for the S.League giants at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, where captain Yumnan Raju put the home side in front in the 26th minute. Home conceded a third goal when Balwant Singh scored in injury time.
After the result, the Protectors sit bottom of their group with just one point from three games.
In Tuesday's other Group E tie, Indonesia's Persipura Jayapura comfortably beat Maldivian side New Radiant 3-0 to top the group with seven points.
