iFly Singapore breaks indoor skydiving records on 4th anniversary

SINGAPORE - iFly Singapore celebrated its fourth anniversary by breaking five Guinness World Records in indoor skydiving and launching an event space Sky Garden on May 21.

Opened in 2011, the Sentosa attraction remains the only indoor skydiving attraction in South-east Asia using a wind tunnel.

The team have successfully broken the five records after fulfilling the requirements and are currently awaiting the certificates from Guinness World Records.

Founder and managing director of iFly Singapore, Mr Lawrence Koh, successfully broke the record of the Most 360 Horizontal Spins in a Wind Tunnel in one minute with 40 spins.

The record was previously held by local actress Hayley Woo, 23, who had achieved 26 spins.

Professional flyers Kyra Poh, 12, and Choo Yi Xuan, 13, also broke the previous record they held for Most Passes through a Hula Hoop in a Wind Tunnel in a minute with 57 passes. Their previous attempt last year was 49 passes.

The pair made a strong debut at the two-day Bodyflight World Challenge event last April in Bedford, UK, reported The Straits Times. According to iFly Singapore, they train three times a week.

13-year-old Lye Yu Xuan attempted the Most Forward/Backward Movements in a Wind Tunnel in a Minute record but only managed to tie with the previous score of 33.

iFly Singapore is open to children aged seven and above and adults, even those with physical disabilities. Those who are pregnant or are over 120kg are not able to participate.

Spanning over 6,000 square feet, Mr Koh also launched the Sky Garden, a private event space on the penthouse level of iFly Singapore.

Comprising of an indoor and outdoor space, the Sky Garden is another option in Sentosa to host weddings and corporate events.

The company invested just over $800,000 on the Sky Garden project which includes landscaping of the rooftop, imaging systems, sound systems and LED lighting for events.

"This expansion is another feather on our cap of announcements to look out for this year", said Mr Koh.
