JOHOR BARU: The first indoor football pitch in Southeast Asia, costing an estimated RM15mil, will be constructed near the Dataran Bandaraya Johor Baru here.

Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) honorary secretary Mohd Fahmy Yahya said that the pitch would be used exclusively for the team to hold practice sessions.

"We are using local expertise to design and build the pitch," he told reporters after its groundbreaking ceremony at Padang Sri Gelam here on Thursday.

Johor princess Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah, who represented Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, launched the project.
