Lim jumps for joy after the judges gave her a split decision win.

It was a heart-wrenching moment for Malaysian mixed martial arts (MMA) fans when it was announced that Sabah’s Ann ‘Athena’ Osman lost via a split decision against Singapore’s top female prospect, Sherilyn Lim after three rounds of war at ONE FC: TOTAL DOMINATION.

Ann would have felt the weight of the nation on her shoulders as she stepped into the cage after seeing her fellow country men Alex Lim and Marc Marcellinus drop like flies by their respective opponents in Asia’s largest MMA event.

The 27-year-old was quick to dominate Lim in the opening with her wrestling, which comes with no surprise as she has been training with Mark Striegl, who arguably is the best MMA fighter in the Philippines who possesses world-class grappling skills, American Will Chope and fellow Sabahan AJ Lias Mansor.

However, Lim bounced back in round two but Ann dominated her once again with superior ground skills. The ladies battled it out in the third round and Ann was yet again on top of Lim trying to inflict damage on to Lim with some ‘ground and pound’.

However, with the home ground advantage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Lim won the bout via a debatable split decision.

The beautiful Ann remained positive after her defeat and promised Malaysian fans that she would bounce back stronger.

“‘A setback is just that, a setback. It’s temporary and it will only make me stronger than ever. Will learn. Make adjustments. Move forward,” Ann said on her Facebook page immediately after her loss.

“Sorry for letting you guys down. Did not manage to bring home the win. It was a close fight but will be learning a lot from this experience, make adjustments and move forward from here,” she further stated.
