Maybank to hold inaugural Santa Run in Nov

Maybank will hold Singapore's first Maybank Santa Run for Wishes 2014 at Marina Bay on Nov 29.

The Christmas-themed run will feature two race categories: A 2.2km family fun run, flagging of at 5pm, and a 5km run, flagging off at 6pm. Participants will run past landmarks such as the Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

In addition, several celebrities and local artistes such as Pierre Png, Andrea De Cruz, retired Singapore International Footballer Alekandra Duric and 13-year-old singing sensation Miguel Antonio will be attending the Santa Run.

Registrants for the Santa Run can expect to receive unique Christmas-inspired merchandise such as a specially-designed tee-shirt and medallion. Runners will also gain free entry to a carnival as part of the Santa Run event, which would otherwise cost $10.

All proceeds from the inaugural run will go to Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, a non-profit organisation for children with life-threatening diseases or conditions that arranges experiences of the child's choosing. The amount raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government as part of the Care and Share Movement, to coincide with Singapore's 50th birthday celebrations next year.

Chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, Ms Catherine Ho said: "We hope to create a magical, Christmas-inspired event which will bring smiles and be a time of bonding for families, couples and friends.

"The support of the public will give long-term support to our mission and allow us to bring the power of a wish to every child in Singapore who is facing life-threatening medical illnesses."
