MMA: Gannaway gunning for second win

After winning on her One Fighting Championship (One FC) debut last year, Singapore's mixed martial artiste Kirstie Gannaway returns for the Age of Champions event tonight at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur.

The 24-year-old (above, left) will face April Osenio of the Philippines in the atomweight division - the lightest weight class recognised by a mixed martial arts (MMA) organisation.

Gannaway and Osenio both weigh 48kg.

Gannaway, an assistant instructor at MMA academy Evolve, is ready to give a "fight-of-the-night" performance.

She said: "I've been training really hard for this fight and constantly improving in all areas of my game alongside the many world champions at Evolve MMA.

"I'm ready to put on a show for the fans in Malaysia."

Gannaway is only the third Singaporean female - after Sherilyn Lim and Nicole Chua - to be signed by One FC.

Tonight's Age of Champions' main event will feature Brazilian One FC world flyweight champion Adriano Moraes against Japanese challenger Riku Shibuya.

Malaysian fighters Peter Davis and Ann Osman will also return to compete in the lightweight and flyweight categories respectively.

The Age of Champions event, which starts at 7pm, will be streamed online at www.onefc.com/livestream.
