Motorcycling: Flawless Rabat wins Moto 2 at Czech GP

BRNO, Czech Republic - Esteve Rabat extended his Moto 2 championship lead as he won the Czech Republic grand prix in Brno on Sunday after leading throughout the race.

The 25-year-old Spanish Kalex rider started from pole position and won the fifth race this season after setting a new circuit record.

Finland's Mika Kallio on a Kalex, who won at Brno last year, shrugged off two crashes earlier this weekend to take the second spot more than three seconds behind Rabat.

German Kalex rider Sandro Cortese finished third, three seconds behind Kallio, for his first podium finish since joining the Moto 2 category in the 2013 season.

Rabat leads the Moto 2 championship with 208 points ahead of Kallio with 196 and Spain's Maverick Vinales with 150 points.
