SEPANG - Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel said he would not be taking up AMG Mercedes Petronas' offer to visit their garage today, dismissing the entire affair as a "publicity stunt".

"Even if I did go, they (Mercedes) wouldn't tell me anything," he told reporters here yesterday.

In an unprecedented move, Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg had invited Vettel to visit his garage for a debriefing this evening.

"We have a good car this season and we are confident of a strong showing here. We are serious about our invitation to Vettel to sit in on the debriefing on Friday evening, and he should attend it," Rosberg told reporters recently.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Motorsport head Toto Wolff said the invitation was a friendly gesture on their part.

"Maybe we will mislead him a little," Wolff said with a smile.

It was reported that Rosberg made the jaw-dropping offer to Vettel during an exchange between the Formula 1 rivals in a post-race news conference in Melbourne on March 15.

"I spoke to (Mercedes motorsport head) Toto (Wolff) and (technical head) Paddy (Lowe) about an invitation for Sebastian and they are easy with it," he told his followers on Twitter.
