Three victories in the last six months and another one in the crosshairs on Sunday. That's BALE STAR for you.
Prepared by Patrick Shaw, Bale Star showed exciting form on the training track on Wednesday morning. Taken out by Barend Vorster, the four-year-old turned on the pace to run the 600m in 36sec.
Bale Star has been an efficient money spinner for his connections, Tmen Stable. From 12 starts, he has been off the board on just three occasions - the last blemish coming in May when he ran fifth to Stepitup in the Singapore Guineas.
More recently, his form has been faultless. Indeed, his last three starts produced two wins and a second.
In his last start just a fortnight ago, Bale Star came with a timely run from just off the pace to mow down Solitaire and then hold off Super Junior over the mile.
He had in July beaten Irish Rebel over the shorter 1,400m distance. His other win, last November, was over the sprint trip of 1,200m. In all, Bale Star has banked in excess of $215,000 for his owners.
An Australian-bred by Nadeem, Bale Star takes on a talented field in Race 9 on Sunday. EMPRESS WU, a competent mare from Desmond Koh's yard, will be a tough rival. So too GOLD RUTILE.
The race, a Kranji Stakes C affair, will be run over the 1,400m trip. Keep Bale Star on your betting radar. He does look like being "the one".
