Racing: Brave Sister shows speed in hit-out

SINGAPORE - Brave Sister stepped up preparations for her maiden victory in Sunday's Achievement Handicap, a Maiden event over 1,000m, with an impressive trial at Ipoh on Tuesday.

Taken out by jockey Djulkifli Naib, the five-year-old Australian mare by Lago Delight easily beat stablemate Space Invader (Class 5 - 1,000m) in a 600m trial to clock 38.8sec.

The going was good.

Brave Sister, who arrived unraced in July last year, showed plenty of speed in her debut last month when she set the pace before going down by a neck to Ghost Speedy in the Stormvogel Handicap for Class 4 horses over 1,300m in heavy going in Penang.

Prepared by former champion trainer Kevin Coetzee, Brave Sister has benefited from the run and should go one better on Sunday.
