Run around the Sports Hub

Run around the Sports Hub

The first Stadium Run will kick off the National Games on Nov 1.

Organisers Sport Singapore will launch this year's Games with a 4.25km run around the Republic's newest sporting landmark - the $1.33 billion Sports Hub.

Participants will go around the National Stadium and other landmarks like the OCBC Arena and Aquatic Centre and the Water Sports Centre.

Games organising committee chairman Lai Chin Kwang said: "The Stadium Run is an event that will appeal to runners of all levels - from recreational runners who want to enjoy the scenic sports landmarks around the Sports Hub, to serious runners who want to take up the challenge and improve their personal timing.

COMPETE

"Sport Singapore will develop this into an annual Stadium Run Challenge where running enthusiasts will pit themselves among the best and set record timings.

"Sport Singapore is also exploring the possibility of organising a monthly run where the top runner will be recognised."

The Games is a biennial multi-sport competition organised by Sport Singapore. The first one was held in 2012.

Singaporeans, permanent residents and foreigners who are residents are eligible to compete.

The Games will be held from Nov 1-9 at various venues islandwide and will feature 12 sports - athletics, badminton, basketball, bowling, dragon boat, futsal, hockey 5s, netball, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis and volleyball.

Those keen can register at www.singaporenationalgames.sg or at any ActiveSG Sports Centre by tomorrow.
