While it is not uncommon to have more than one organised running event on a weekend, there is one particular weekend at the end of October and early November that features a total of six such runs from Friday to Sunday.
With about two months to go before the crazy weekend, The New Paper finds out what runners can look forward to.
1) What: Race The Dead 2014
When: Friday, Oct 31
5pm to 11pm
Where: Sentosa Trails
The zombie-themed run was sold out in 14 hours last year, with a total of 10,000 runners over two days.
This year, the 5km run is going to be held at night for the first time and the registration for 150 zombies (who run after participants' flags) started on Friday. All the slots have been snapped up.
The registration for a limit of 5,000 runners started at 6pm yesterday.
2) What: Monster Ultra 200 2014
When: Friday, Oct 31
9pm (Flag Off)
Where: MacRitchie Reservoir
So far, 21 people from seven countries, including Singapore, have signed up for this 200km run. They have 48 hours to complete the race.
Said Mr Jonathan Chia, 32, director of event organisers Running Guild: "We are expecting about 30 to 40 people who would be crazy enough to do this."
3) What: Hello Kitty Run 2014
When: Saturday, Nov 1, 7am
Where: To be confirmed
This 5km run is so popular that all 15,000 pre-registration slots (where participants pay $65 instead of $70) were snapped up within 24 hours.
Said organiser Pink Apple: "The official registration for the run will open during the first week of September, with additional slots available for the public to register."
4) What: Puma Night Run Singapore 2014
When: Saturday, Nov 1
5pm (Nov 1) to 1am (Nov 2)
A popular event across the region, this is the first time the 10km run is being held in Singapore. It has 3,000 slots up for grabs. So far, 75 per cent of places have been taken up. Registration closes on Sept 14.
5) What: Civil Service Club's Run by the Bay 2014
When: Sunday, Nov 2, 6.30am
Where: The Float @ Marina Bay
The organiser aims to attract 3,000 participants for the event, which features 10km and 15km runs, as well as a 5km fun run.
6) What: Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014
When: Sunday, Nov 2
Where: F1 Pit Building
Several thousands have registered for the charity run, which has several categories including a 10km competitive run, a 5km fun run and a corporate challenge where teams of five runners complete 10km each.
There is also a 300m Kids Dash for children aged four to 12.
A Singapore Airlines spokesman said that all registration proceeds will be donated to the Community Chest and will be matched dollar for dollar by the Government.
