Sailors Khng and Tan going well in Marseille

Singapore sailors Griselda Khng and Sara Tan headed into the second day of racing at the 49er and 49er FX World Championships in Marseille, France, on Wednesday looking to retain top spot in the 49er FX competition.

The duo finished third and second in their first two races in the yellow flight on Tuesday to top the combined fleet of 53 with a score of five points.

Yellow fleet's Danish pair of Jena Mai Hansen and Katja Salskov-Iversen were in second with six points, and blue flight duo Giulia Conti and Francesca Clapcich of Italy are third with the same score.

The 49er FX is a new Olympic class skiff for women that will make its debut at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

In July, Khng and Tan clinched silver at the 49er FX World Youth Championship held in Gdynia, Poland.
