Sailors win S'pore's first gold at Asian Para Games

SINGAPORE - The Team Singapore sailing team of Jovin Tan Wei Qiang, 28, and Yap Qian Yin, 24, has won the gold medal in the Hansa303Double Handed event at the 2nd Asian Para Games.

The duo took first place in the final Race 9 to come in first overall, the Singapore Disability Sports Council said in a statement today. Team Singapore mentioned in their Facebook page that the pair had won seven out of the nine races.

Team Singapore's other team of Aaron Per, 17, and Ng Xiu Zhen, 30, was placed fourth in the same event.

Singapore's medal tally at the Games is now one gold and four bronze. Two of the bronze medals were won by bowlers, while Theresa Goh won two bronzes in separate swimming events.
