SEA Games: Highlights for Jun 6

If you missed out on watching any of the sports events on the official Day 1 of the SEA Games 2015, don't worry as you can catch up on the highlights here.
Altogether Team Singapore started the 28th SEA Games with a promising 10 gold medals across five sports.
Quah Zheng Wen won the men's 100m backstroke event in a new SEA Games and national record time of 54.51sec. He also won silver in the 200m free with a new national record time of 1:49.17.
The relay team, consisting Amanda Lim, Hoong En Qi, Nur Marina Chan and Quah Ting Wen, were victorious in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
Singapore's wushu team won three golds - Vera Tan won the women's taijiquan (compulsory), Yong Yi Xiang won the men's changquan (optional) event and Colin Jesse Adalia, Lee Zhe Xuan and Lim Si Wei won the men's team duel weapons event.
In the SEA Game's men's canoeing events, Singapore won gold for the first time. Lucas Teo won the men's K1 1,000m event while Brandon Ooi and Bill Lee won the men's K2 1,000m event.
In shooting, Jasmine Ser, Tessa Neo and Martina Lindsay Veloso won the women's 10m air rifle event. Ms Neo also won the women's individual event while Ms Ser took silver.
One gold was won in fencing when the women's foil team - made up of Ang Wenying, Liane Wong and Cheryl Wong - who beat Vietnam 45-26.
So far, Singapore has won 17 gold and bronze medals in each category as well as 11 silver medals.
Other golds won today were by Vietnam swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien. She created a new SEA Games' record in the women's 400m individual medley with a time of 4:42.88. She also won the 800m free, making it two golds in two races.
Philippines won their first gold medal at the SEA Games today with Claire Ma Adorna coming in first in the women's triathlon event.
Cambodia also won their first gold medal by beating Laos in the sepaktakraw chinlone-linking event.
Myanmar, too, received their first gold medals in three events - canoeing, sepaktakraw and wushu.
Both Thailand and Indonesia won eight gold medals today.
