It was business as usual at the National Inter-Schools Artistic Gymnastics Individual Championships yesterday, with the B Division favourites dominating the podium positions.
Crowned individual all-around champion in the qualifying round two days earlier, Sean Yeo from Singapore Sports School kept up his form to sweep three of the four events yesterday at Bishan Sports Hall.
He missed out only in the parallel bars where he had to settle for silver behind Christopher Chew of St Joseph's Institution (International).
It has been a fruitful comeback for Sean, who sat out the tournament last year after suffering an injury. "I think my performance today exceeded my expectations. It is important to train hard, train smart and never give up," he said.
Raffles Girls' School also had a comeback story. Despite falling during the uneven bars event, Tan Sze En, 15, managed to recover her poise to go on to win gold.
She was also victorious in two of the other three events to clinch overall champion honours.
"I was anxious after the fall but I told myself I must remain calm. Thankfully, it did not affect my remaining two events," she said.
Pressure was on her to perform since she was overall champion last year and is also part of the national youth squad.
