Selangor could call on Hodak

While he is interested in the LionsXII job, Bojan Hodak could become coach of Selangor, instead.

Last weekSelangor could call on Hodak, the Croat told The New Paper he was interested in the LionsXII coaching position.

But TNP understands that Hodak is a strong contender to take over departing coach Irfan Bakti at Selangor. The Red Giants could even offer him a deal this week.

On the other hand, the LionsXII will not move to hire a replacement for V Sundramoorthy until after Oct 26, the deadline for all applications.

When contacted, Hodak confirmed Selangor's interest but added that his focus was only on Kelantan's Malaysia Cup semi-final against ATM on Friday.

"It is true I have received several offers, one from Selangor as well, but I have not signed anything," he said.

"I am still interested in the LionsXII job. I have not applied for it - my agent will handle such things.

"I am definitely leaving Kelantan at the end of the season. I have won everything here, so it is time to go. I want to move to a big city next year, because my children will be starting school."

Initially, Selangor were set to appoint ATM coach B Sathianathan as their head coach.

However, it is believed Sathia has had a late change of heart and could sign an extension with his current club.

If that happens, Selangor are likely to turn to Hodak, who led Kelantan to all three Malaysian domestic titles in his first year in charge last season.

Sources have revealed that former Home United coach Steve Darby has put already pen to paper to become the Red Warriors' coach.
