National carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) is now the official airline partner of the 28th South-east Asia (SEA) Games.
The deal was announced yesterday and will see SIA sponsor complimentary economy-class tickets to Singapore as prizes for promotional activities around the region.
The activities include Nila's Quest, a web-based digital game specially created for the SEA Games that aims to engage the regional community.
Fans from each South-east Asian nation stand a chance to win the grand prize - two tickets each to fly to Singapore for the Games, which will be held here from June 5 to 16.
The airline will also sponsor handheld fans, which will be included in the fun packs distributed during the Games' preview, opening and closing ceremonies, and SEA Games-themed Airbus A380 aircraft models.
SIA cabin crew will also participate in the opening and closing ceremonies.
Mak Swee Wah, SIA's executive vice-president, commercial, said: "As a strong supporter of both sports and tourism, Singapore Airlines is proud to be the official airline partner of the SEA Games.
"We are especially honoured to support this milestone sporting event which will be held in Singapore after a 22-year hiatus, as we celebrate the country's 50th birthday this year."
Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (Singsoc) community and corporate outreach chief Toh Boon Yi said: "Singapore Airlines is a Singapore icon, and we are very pleased to work with a top-class partner for the SEA Games.
"They have been involved in the local sporting scene and we hope that their support will set off more involvement from Corporate Singapore.
"We look forward to working with partners like Singapore Airlines to co-create this sporting experience for all."
