SINGAPORE - Over the weekend, iFly Singapore's indoor skydiving team made history as the first team from Singapore to receive a silver medal in the Bodyflight World Challenge 2014.

In its ninth year, the Bodyflight World Challenge is not only the world's most recognised competition for indoor skydiving, but also the largest. The event took place over the 4th and 5th of April in Bedford, United Kingdom.

It saw over 100 teams compete from more than 25 different countries around the world including USA, France, Dubai, Russia, Singapore, Czech Republic, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Qatar, Bahrain and many more.

This year's Bodyflight World Challenge consisted of 3 categories: The 2-way freefly open, the dynamic 2-way ("D2W") and the 4-way open formation skydiving ("FS").

iFly Singapore's contingent at the World challenge was made up of youth ambassadors, 11-year-old Kyra Poh and 12-year-old Choo Yixuan, as well as two of iFly Singapore's top instructors, Kristopher Reynolds, 34, and Joshua Tay, 32).

The four members underwent a rigorous training schedule specifically designed for the competition which saw them training at least 3-4 times a week since February. Their hard work paid off when Team iFly Singapore 1, consisting of members Kyra Poh and Kristopher Reynolds came in 2nd place in the D2W category. In addition to their silver medal, the pair also took home £1,000 (S$2,086) in prize money.

Team iFly Singapore 2's Choo Yixuan and Joshua Tay came in 5th place for the same category.

The quartet also participated in the 2-way freefly open category in which they managed to finish in fifth and eighth place.

Lawrence Koh, Managing Director and Founder of iFly Singapore shares, "We are absolutely delighted to see Kyra and Kristopher getting the silver medal. We came to Bedford to gain experience in competing with world class flyers as it is our first world championship out of Singapore."

"We are very humbled and happy with the results. This has been an incredible experience for the teams, and they did extremely well. It was extremely satisfying to see Yi Xuan and Joshua doing a superb job as well, and we are equally thrilled with their 5th placing for Dynamic 2-way".
