South African so Clos to world-record time

South African ace Chad le Clos narrowly missed the world 100m butterfly record yesterday at the Fina/Mastbank Swimming World Cup.
The world and Olympic champion won the 100m fly at the OCBC Aquatic Centre with a time of 48.74sec, just a shade over the world-record time of 48.48sec, set by Russian Evgeny Korotyshkin in 2009.
Le Clos is the only man to go under 49 seconds this year, and came close to breaking the world record in the Moscow leg of the World Cup when he clocked a personal best of 48.56sec.
The butterfly specialist also won the 200m and 50m fly on Saturday night, timing 1:48.88 and 21.98sec respectively.
With the three wins in Singapore, he made it a perfect 27 wins in 27 races at the meet, the first man to accomplish this feat across all legs of the multi-stop World Cup series.
