S'pore Reds give decent show at SCC Sevens

Singapore's national team (right, winning a line-out against Iskandar Raiders) ended the group phase of the Singapore Cricket Club International Rugby Sevens with one win, one draw and two losses.

Blandon Tan scored the only try in a 7-5 victory over the Singapore Barbarians while Jay-Hykel Jailani and Max Ducourneau also impressed for the Reds.

The squad, who are gearing up for next June's SEA Games on home soil, will face Borneo Eagles in a round-of-16 clash at the Padang today.

Australian outfit Randwick and last year's finalists Penguins from Britain cruised through with their brand of fast-running and swift-passing routines.

The final day of competition kicks off at 8.30am, with the finals slated to start from 6.20pm.
