Singapore's Feng Tianwei lived up to her top-seed billing as she won the the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Philippines Open yesterday, beating third seed Elizabeta Samara of Romania 4-1 in the final in Subic Bay.
It was Feng's fifth women's singles ITTF title, after triumphs in Poland in 2008, South Korea in 2009 and 2011, and Japan in 2011.
The world No. 5 defeated two Japanese with 4-0 scorelines en route to the final - outclassing Sakai Haruka 4-0 in the quarter-finals and Nemoto Riyo in the semi finals.
It wasn't as smooth sailing in the final as Samara fought back to take the second set 11-9 after losing the first 8-11.
But there was no stopping Feng as she swept aside the Romanian 11-3, 11-3, 13-11 to clinch the title.
