Tennis: again dealt early exit
The 40th-ranked Nara has not made it past the second round of a tournament since winning her first WTA title in Rio de Janiero in February.

Kurumi Nara's struggles leading up to Wimbledon continued when Japan's top-ranked woman lost 6-2, 6-1 Monday to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the first round of the grass-court Topshelf Open in Rosmalen, Netherlands.

The 40th-ranked Nara has not made it past the second round of a tournament since winning her first WTA title in Rio de Janiero in February.

Meanwhile in the men's qualifying tournament for Wimbledon, Tatsuma Ito, Hiroki Moriya, Yuichi Sugita and Yasutaka Uchiyama all won their first-round matches, while second-seeded Go Soeda and Taro Daniel both fell at the first hurdle.

Players need to win three matches to make the main draw at Wimbledon.
