Tennis: WTA Future Stars set for S'pore

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has launched the "WTA Future Stars" junior tournaments, which aims to showcase the top junior female talent across the Asia-Pacific.

The Future Stars event will be part of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore, which will held at the Sports Hub from Oct 17 to 26. The top regional qualifiers will compete at the Kallang Tennis Centre from Oct 17 to 19, while the finals will be played on centre court at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Oct 20.

Each regional Future Stars event will include competition at two levels - Under-14 and Under-16 - with tournaments set to take place in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other regions in the Asia-Pacific.

"For more than four decades, WTA players have served as role models and inspiration for the future generation of young girls worldwide," said WTA Finals tournament director, Melissa Pine.
